One of the first-generation writers who helped pioneer the hard-boiled science fiction mode now known as cyberpunk, Tom Maddox first published his work in the mid-eighties in Omni Magazine and in a number of compilations, including the 1986 collection “Mirrorshades”. Maddox published his first novel, “Halo”, in 1991, and co-wrote 2 episodes of The X-Files, “Killswitch” and “First Person Shooter”, with longtime friend and cyberpunk sage William Gibson (“Neuromancer”).
Maddox served as director of writing for several years at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. Maddox has taught creative writing in several modes, including general fiction, science fiction, and hypertext fiction. As Radar Group’s Principal Writer, Maddox will work with the Radar creative team to shape into original storyverses™. Maddox has already begun work on Radar’s upcoming ensemble cast disaster-shooter Earth No More, which is currently in development by Recoil Games. Maddox holds a Ph.D. in Literary Studies.
