As a producer at the multiple award-winning studio Relic Entertainment, van Lierop shipped multiple critically acclaimed real-time strategy games, including Company of Heroes (94% metacritic, winner of over 35 major industry awards, including 20 "Game of the Year" awards; currently the highest rated strategy game of all time), and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War (multiple million units sold, multiple “Game of the Year” awards ). Prior to leaving Relic, he was the producer responsible for the Company of Heroes franchise, managing the development of multiple CoH-branded titles, and working with studio executives to develop the long-term strategy for the IP.
Eager to work on games with broader appeal and stronger stories, van Lierop joined Scott Miller at 3D Realms as Creative Director for the creation and management of original game projects co-developed with external partners. During his time with 3D Realms he played a key role in the concepting and pre-production phases of several key projects, including Earth No More. Also during this time, van Lierop helped lay the groundwork for the Radar Group.
